I have been researching monitors for more than a week now (I'm starting to hate monitors ;) ) and one of the ones I have been looking at is the Samsung 971P-BK which I found on newegg.com using their advanced search. Here is the link:

I like it because it has 16.7 milllion display colors, a SPVA panel (not an S-IPS but since I can't afford that...), pretty low response time, good viewing angle (at least I think that's good), good contrast ratio, and it fits in my price range.

I don't like it because it only has a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and I've heard that's low (correct?).

Any thoughts? If you have another monitor suggestion PLEASE tell me!!!
The monitor will be used primarily for internet followed by light image editing and occasional gaming.

Sounds great, if you don't mind S-PVA screens you should take a look at the Dell 2007FP 20" 4:3 screen. Its only about $30 more.

I've heard good reviews of the Samsung 971p and I think you will be more than satisfied.

It seems like more people are satisfied with their 971Ps then their 2007FPs. What do you think? I'd like a 20"...

The only reason why people aren't satisfied with the 2007FP is because of the panel lottery. They would rather get an IPS panel vs. a S-PVA panel.
