The Samsung 305T is available on NE for $1000. The Dell is around $1250. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these 2? I will game, but mostly use the real estate for f#$%ing around with. :D

The Samsung has more inputlag and is a PVA where the Dell is IPS.

And you can't get three Samsung's as nice as you can get three Dell's:

:p

For gaming? No doubt: the Dell 3007WFP-HC.

If you meant the 3008WFP: forget about that one. Too much lag.

If you're highly sensitive to input lag, the 3007 is probably your best bet for a 30" LCD. I game on my 3008 and have never noticed the slightest hint of lag even with FPS games. All the extra inputs make the 3008 perfect for me. Another big plus for Dell LCDs is the standard 3 year warranty with the perfect panel guarantee. If even one dead/stuck pixel appears over the 3 years, Dell will replace the monitor. I don't know any other LCD company that comes close to that policy.

*mouth wide open* are those 2007WFPs on either side of the 3007? Please say that's the case, I have 2007s already and was planning on picking up a 3007 or 3008 this year and that is just incredible; what do you have driving those 3?

Thats probably 2007FP, not WFP. The 2007WFP is about 2 cm taller than the 3008WFP so it's not a perfect match, but it works for me :)
A regular 4:3 20" monitor in pivot is the best fit to use alongside a 30" widescreen monitor.

I went with the Dell 3008WFP (A02 revision) because of price (cost less from Overclockers.co.uk compared to most 30" models), connections, H-IPS panel, OSD and scaler. So far it has been awesome and I haven't noticed any input lag when directly comparing to my 40" Sony HDTV which is supposed to have only 10ms lag.

They are 2007FP's ;)

Hehe, now you get punished for not buying 4:3 :p

Doesn't text look lousy in portrait mode? ClearType wasn't designed to handle fonts in portrait mode.

I never run cleartype anyway, cleartype makes everything fuzzy and hard to read...

But sure, if you like cleartype it wont work as it supposed to. MS has a tool to adjust the cleartype but I don't know if it can handle pivoted displays or if you can have different cleartypesettings on different monitors.

Samsung PVA:
Pros:
Better uniformity, less glow
Con:
Viewing angle shift, more lag

Dell IPS:
Pro:
Less lag, less viewing angle shift.
Con:
White glow, LG QC = screen uniformity issues,

I tried the dell and went back to 24".

No, unfortunately it can't handle pivoted displays or different settings on different monitors.

I much prefer ClearType to the thin pixelated jagged fonts you get without it. ClearType makes fonts look more like print and less like a collection of pixels.
