Just got my refurb Samsung 2443BTW from overstock. I paided $240 shipped which is pretty good since most sites that sell them new are 400+. I couldn't justify paying that much for a 24 inch TN, but $240 I could so I got the refurb. Anyway the monitor is in great shape, no dead or stuck pixels no buzzing noise and the bezel is also excellent. The only thing is backlight bleed. Their is a small amount on the bottom and top from left to right. Now is this common in TN panels this size? Would you bother returning and and trying for another one or just keep this if its a common thing with large TN's?

Thanks

I think backlight bleeding is a common thing on all TFT LCD, some have more, some less...

post a picture so we can see.

Here's a picture of it. Sorry if my camera skills suck.

It only shows up a bit on the boot splash screen.

Backlight bleed should really be the least of your concerns. Properly calibrating or even just getting more sane color settings and brightness levels is foremost. Once you have your brightness where it should be (looks for reviews or settings of similar panels that calibrate to 100-200 nits), then backlight bleeding is less severe.

Also be careful what you interpret as backlight bleed; a dark screen with black bars at the top/bottom is likely to showcase the poor vertical angles of TN very badly and much of what you see might be contrast shifts.

Edit: Just saw you image, that bleed's not too bad. About average without seeing it first hand. Overall the screen uniformity has that blotchy look we see from so many panels; I see a lot of Samsungs that look just like that.
