I went with the S50 is it that much worse than the G5? I noticed the S50 cost less.

its about the same

but you shoulda stuck with s45/g3

I'm sorry I didn't go with the S50 I was just considering it. So the S45 and G3 are better?

yeah. the s50 and g5 just squeeze more pixels onto the same sized sensor, which is already crammed, leading to more noise and other negative things which affect picture quality

Well I have an S50 and I can tell you that noise and CA are not a major problem for me. I get CA in very few shots. I also shoot in ISO 50 is much as possible and noise is not much of a problem at this ISO speed. Also, noise can be reduced with software like NeatImage.

The biggest difference between the S50 and G5 is the lens. The G5 has a 4x optical zoom lens with a max aperature of F2.0. The S50 has a 3x optical zoom with max aperature of F2.8. Other than the lens, the two cameras are very similar in functionality. It basically comes down to which lens you want and if the extra $150 or so is worth it.
