RX 470 Displayport issue?

So I bought a RX 470 4 GB Armor recently, but having trouble running it over its displayports.

Whenever I start a game, after a couple of minutes or so the screen starts to show artefacts, flicker and then goes black. PC is running as usual, monitor is getting signal, but the gpu just shows a black image, after reboot everything works fine again, also no problems in idle/browsing use until I load up a game again.

The thing is DVI and HDMI seem to work perfectly fine. Played 2 hours without any problems. So it has to be related to the DPs

here is what I did so far without success:

-tried all 3 DP ports with 2 monitors and 2 different DP-cables which always worked fine

-tried 4 different drivers, among these the oldest supporting the RX470 and the latest, always used DDU in safe mode etc,

-uninstalled/deactivated AMD HDMI sound driver, because the monitors implemented speakers make ugly static sounds as soon as the problem occures.

-RMA, got a different card (hope so at least), same problem

-temps, fans and clocks fine

-power cycling

could it be the DP 1.4 not being supported or are my cables not good enough for it?

unfortunately I need DP for my main monitor.

my rig is fairly old otherwise: 2500k, Asrock Fatality p67, Win 7 64bit

Any thoughts?

Possible thought might be your power supply, given that it doesn't happen during idle. As far as Displayport goes, I've had similar issues in the past but they were cable and/or monitor related. I don't suppose you have another monitor you could try with DP?

well, I have 2 monitors right now that have DP, both show the same issue. Power supply is Super Flower Golden Green HX 550, old but decent imo, 80+ gold, 45A on +12V rail, never had issues with my previous 770 GTX, but I am no expert. What else could be the issue with the power supply?

I just pose it as a possible cause since the issue only happens under load. If you had another power supply handy to test with, it's worth a try.

mhh, maybe I have some super old be quiet PSU lying around somewhere, I have to look. But it is just weird that load with HDMI and DVI is no problem at all, that is why thought the problem must me related to the displayport somehow.

It's pretty bizarre, and logically speaking it doesn't make sense, but I'm not sure what else to try short of replacing the card with another brand/model outright.

are your DP cables certified? check the cables here. there's some weird issues with non-certified cables that have the 20th pin active.

it will most likely come down to this, but this MSI has zero fan mode in idle and Samsung memory. I see Sapphire is on sale right now, guess I will try this one.

yes, they both have DP logo on it.
