Rubbing one out

I wanted to know how many people have successfully "rubbed out" extra bright spots on their monitors due to backlight leakage *cough*2005FPW*cough* ? Some people say you can "even out" the leakage by rubbing on the spot with a soft cloth... any success stories?

I think rubbing out is bullshit. I have tried it with the leakage and stuck pixels, ie different colored pixels. It never worked. Sent it back and got a new perfect one.

There was one pixel that didn't seem quite right in my 2005fpw which was fixed by rubbing, but i don't think it was dead. I was never able to fix the backlight leakage on my 2005fpw though by rubbing it, although, it did even out after 3 weeks so the leakage is not as notisable anymore.

I have somewhat evened it out on 2005, but I believe the real reason was just time.

Btw, you don't rub it, just use the cloth and wipe across the screen left to right, top to bottom with firm pressure as if the screen was dirty.

I've only ever done it on stuck pixels.
