I created a SSL certificate with Windows 2003 server for OWA and RPC over HTTPS. I can connect to OWA using the SSL by using the address https://mail.domain.com/exchange the certificate was issued to mail.domain.com. I am trying to setup RPC over HTTPS now with Outlook 2003 and have read a few tutorials on how to do this and they all seem pretty straight forward. However when I try and connect I am unable to do so. I don't really know where to start troubleshooting so if anyone could help it would be appreciated.

What exactly have you done so far? We need a better explaination of what problems your having and any related error messages.

Well I just went through this link right now http://support.microsoft.com/?id=833401 and it still isnt working. I cnofigured If I put mail.domain.com as the exchange server it says "Outlook could not log on. Check connection etc..."

If I change the Exchange server to servername.domain.com it also allows me to put my username and password in but then says

So I have tried server.domain.com with domain.com\username and password
mail.domain.com with domain.com\username and password
server.domain.com with username and password
and mail.domain.com with username and password

Sometimes if I connect to server.domain.com with username and password it says "your Microsoft Exchange server is unavailable" retry work offline cancel.

I can connect to https://mail.domain.com/rpc and will give the 403 error like MS says it will do.

I put my real server back in place and got rid of SBS2003. I am running Windows 2003 server and Exchange 2003 among other things.

SBS sucks cause it has so much other crap in it. especialy if you don;t use it its a pain in the ass to get rid of.

Instead of bashing a product that you obviously can't admin correctly, how about posting *some* kind of help for the OP?

SnowPunk,

Login via http://servername/remote , once logged in, click the link for "Configure Outlook via the Internet" and follow the instructions. Once done, retest and post back the results.

that doesnt work with my server if I do the server name or localhost/remote I dont have a DIR like that in IIS

Is outlook web access for Exchange installed?

I would get it to request my username and password once after that it says the Exchange server is unavailable and lets me retry.

Ok I fixed one of my problems, I had to isntall the certificate to my list of trusted root CAs now it just asks me for my login info over and over even though I have tried everyway to log in.

Finally got it working, had to enable the backend RPC server even though I didnt have one. Once I did that and rebooted I edited the registry for the proxy and then it worked like a charm. The only thing I am wondering is why it keeps asking me for my password, cant it save it?
