Router troubles, please help

I have comcast internet and occasionally randomly my internet just drops. The router cannot be seen with any wireless card or laptop and the only way to get internet back up is to unplug and replug the router.

The router is a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware on it. Last time I used it a year ago it worked perfectly but now moving into a new apartment and new internet it just seems to drop connection.

Does anyone have any tips or hints?
 
Its weird the wireless network has gone down again. (Cant find it on my wireless desktop, laptop or iPhone). I plugged my laptop into the router and it seems like it is getting internet so what could be the issue?
 
What cable modem are you using? How long have the drops been occurring?

Have you tried using an updated version of the DD-WRT firmware? Have you tried reverting back to the "stock" WRT54G firmware?
 
The dd-wrt firmware version I was using was dated back to 2008. I'm using a different router right now so we will see.

*This issue was happening with another router before as well* Not just the Linksys DD-wrt
 
Any significant environmental changes in the new apartment? Might you be getting some interference a microwave or another device? This would likely not explain the need to restart the router, however.
 
You never answered my question about the cable modem: What are you using?
