Trilobite put these programs against 374 possible Trojan, backdoor, and virus infected files. here are the results

All of the scans were preformed with the following options (if available): scan all files, scan compressed executables, scan inside archive files, and high heuristics.

Hmm I don't believe Norton could find that many. In my expierience its the biggest tripe on earth, add macfee in their as well. This is a Detection test as well. I would like to know what the removal rate is like? Norton detects a lot but most of the time it can't do nothing about it. AVG usually is very succesful at removal. Also it would be nice to see what their program foot print is. Norton has a huge footprint, I swear most machines loose 20-30% system performance by having it installed, neither is AVG and AVPE or avast such a system hog.

I like AVG 7 seams a bit low on the detection. I found in hands on that it usually detects stuff that norton can't. I like Avast as well as AVPE

I am gone give Kaspersky a shot see how it is.

I think still best combo is Adaware and + good virus scanner.
Adaware realy removes a lot of things most virus scanners can't and it plays usually a better role in tunning up your system performance.

anyone have kaspersky av, id like to try it but i would like to know how it is on resources and downloading updates and such, sounds good though. i think ice czar uses it so it has to be good am i right?
