Round cable solution for X-Fi Platinum?

I was wondering if anyone has figured out any kind of solution to replace the crappy flat cable that runs from the X-Fi internal card to the I/O panel. I thought it was just an IDE cable, but when i got to looking there are different holes in the plugs blocked off that renders them incompatible. Has anyone some up with a good solution? Thanks.

easy get a 40 pin ide cable round /in the end conection theres a bunch of holes one is close get a drill with a small bit and open the closed end on both side carefully without damaging the contacts within , then match up the cable right and your in busines

you could "round" your existing cable easily

iv'e done this myself with a lot of ide and other flat-ribbon cables with no problem.
