Well I just ran the gauntlet through newegg.com and scratched a few notes in Notepad, here is the list so far.... really would appreciate ANY AND ALL ADVICE that will help me, especially if it will save money, or switch things for a small price change.

dang, 30 views and no love, I dont want to get things that aren't worth while....

Well seeing as you want an opinion quick, here is mine:

The system is pretty good. You might want to upgrade the video card to an X800 XT to get long-term playability out of it, also maybe a bit more RAM in there (you might buy more later, that depends on you), and maybe a bigger hard drive. A 500W PSU may be a bit of overkill, oh but with the LCD and fans it might be alright. How about a sound card and speakers?
Thats my two cents worth.
 
Cant afford the X800 XT, maybe the X800 Pro (any opinions)...

Have speakers now, so dont need them (Some Yamaha 2.1 that my sister had from college)
On board audio will have to suffice for now (read: small bank account, and questionable car)
I know the 500W is overkill but the price is right. This computer has a 80gig HDD and there are 3 users on it, and its only 14.8 gigs full, so I dont need space.
 
Here's an option...

Instead of spending ~$315 on the mobo/cpu... Get the deal at newegg (A64 2800+ and mobo for $198). That will save you about $115 to spend on a better video card (6800, x800 pro, or the 6800gt)


The 2800+ usually will overclock to 3000+ speeds anyways...

OC to 3000+ on just air, any links? I'll probably jump on that.
And can someone explain to me why CompUSA has the same card for $75 cheaper than ZipZoomFly and newegg (actually 60 bucks cheaper). Are these the same card?

and what combo for $198???
 
If you plan to keep this computer more then 1 year....... i recommend getting at least a total of 1gb of ram.......... does'nt matter if its 1x1024mb or 2x512mb........

Also, there are some very big diffrences betwen the ATI 9800 and the new Nvidia 6800GT. The 6800GT has had some awsome overclocks........ most people easily get them to 6800ultra speeds without special cooling. See for yourself at http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=775634

Lastly, it might be worth your while to look at some of the motherboards from MSI, for the 754pin they really had some nice ones according to lots of reviews. I think [H]ard|OCP even did a review. Their K8T NEO-FSR is a a great deal at only $83.00US over at newegg.

Ide also stick with the 3000+ (or 3200+)............ for $38..... its not worth it to me to go down to the slower 2800+. Ide save the 2800 for budget computer builds.

Everything else looks fine, should be a killer for the price!

Sorry I didnt make it clear enough, thats 2 512 sticks of ram, so 1 gig. I'm REALLY open to mobo ideas as I can save alot there (but it must have reasonable onboard audio, as I want to get this thing up and running and still have some thing in my bank account) I keep upping 20 dollars here and there and that puts me above where I want to be, but screw my wants, I need this to be fast. (read: pure selfishness)

rough sketch of a window / sand blast although I think I might want to cut the top part (AMD and Logo) into the case, and make the larger window below, then have it sandblasted (both parts, so its cut out but still sandblasted behind) I could do this all with one window and have the "64 Symbol" sand blasted in, as well as the top that would be covered by the case (with the AMD and logo cut out I think that would work out alot better than just this. (Hope that makes sense)
Also by having the AMD and logo surrounded by black (color of case) I could route some LED's to light up the logo specifically Green, and all other parts what ever color I want.
 
Like this, now read my description above and see if this is what you thought it would look like, I thoght not, I cant describe anything.
