I just installed Windows 8 on my laptop. Everything was fine with the install and it rebooted like normal. It prompted for me to name the machine and choose my theme. I wanted to image the partition for backup purposes, so i turned it off. I went to boot into PartedMagic and Clonezilla it and i was met with a black screen. No POST. No nothing. Even the little light on my usb drive that lights up when its plugged in, wouldn't turn on.

Is my laptop done?
 
yank the battery and hold the power button for 10 seconds and drain the capacitors
then try to set the bios back to default
