Hey, right now im running a P4 2 ghz Northwood with 512 MB RDRAM PC800 and a GF3 Ti 200. Now I want to upgrade my system to play Doom 3 and HL2. I was planning on upgrading the video card now as it will give me the most improvement in games and then upgrading my processor to 3.06 ghz and RAM to 1 gig in about 4 months.

I kinda wanted to get a 6800 GT, but I know ill be severely bottlenecked. So what do you think would be the best course of action in upgrading? Should I just buy the 6800GT now with the intention that I will have less bottleneck once I upgrade or upgrade CPU/RAM now and just wait 4 months to play these games cause ill get a better price on the video card at the point anyways.

Drop a 6800 GT in that system and it will run Doom 3 beautifully. I would buy the 6800 GT as soon as I found a good deal on one.

Upgrading the vid-card is more important for Doom3. As said above, upgrade to a 6800 first, then go to a faster proc and better memory. Doom3 runs well enough on a P4 as long as you have a good vid card. Of course, if you want the ultimate Doom3 experience, then you need an Athlon 64. Those procs beat every Pentium out there, by huge margins, at Doom3.
