I've made quite a few changes since this version. I've taken into consideration the replies I've gotten in various threads and some advice from my boss... Director of IS.

CASE - Antec Silver Aluminum Performance 1 ATX Mid Tower P160
PSU - Antec 480W Power Supply with Blue LED Fan TRUEBLUE480
MOBO - MSI K8N Neo Platinum
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit
HSF - Retail A64 HSF
RAM - Still deciding
GPU - BFG 6800 GT OC
OS HD - Western Digital Raptor 36.7GB 10,000RPM SATA Hard Drive
STORAGE HD - Western Digital 60GB 7200RPM EIDE Hard Drive
OPTICAL - Lite-On Black 52X32X52X16 Combo Drive
AUDIO - Mobo on-board
FLOPPY - Mitsumi USB Digital Card Reader/Writer W/FD
COOLING - Kingwin 120mm Double Ball Bearing Case Fan (Intake)

The whole thing should run me about $1400.

If your going for all that other stuff, might as well get the Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS or whatever the good one is.

no sence in having a kickass video card and crappy sound ?
 
Well, from what I hear (no pun intended), the on-board audio is pretty decent. Plus, I'm only reusing my old 2.1 speakers or headphones. Besides... if I don't like the sound, it's cake to add/upgrade the sound later on.
 
Looks great to me... Better than my comp.

Ever Considering getting a DVD+/-RW? They are getting cheaper, so it would probably be a good time now to pick up a cheapo one, just so you have one if you need to back stuff up, etc..
 
not too bad...why not get an 80gb Seagate SATA drive instead of the EIDE WD one (or at least the SATA version of the WD one)?

Yes, but I can't think of a "need" for one at the moment. So, I figured I'd wait until I have that need. Then I'll pick one up for cheap(er), and probably a dual layer as well.

I should have mentioned... the 60GB EIDE drive is going to be recycled from my current rig. It's only about 6 months old.

Ah, so your one of those "western mass" people :D

j/k, I have friends out that way. Anyways, all looks good to me, but I 2nd the Audigy 2 ZS comment. Obviously Creative is more reliable than whoever makes the audio chipset on your mobo.
