Gaming at 1280x1024. Some parts reused from existing comp*.

i3 2100 stock
gigabyte h61m-ds2 mATX
sapphire HD 6850
2x4gb patriot DDR3 1600
*Optical drive (sata)
*74gb WD raptor
*CM case
*OCZ modstream 500w
*XP Home

As I type this, I notice that the ram I selected is 1600. The mobo has support for 1333/1066/800. Should I get different ram? How's everything else? I will upgrade to Win 7 down the road.

While the memory you listed would probably work, it would downgrade the speed automatically to run at 1333, so unless you are going to overclock it there is no point in buying more expensive memory. I would say something like this patriot memory is probably cheaper and would work just as well.

What are the stats of your exisiting comp, what is your price range for upgrades, where do you live etc? I imagine you should fill in the questions from This thread and im sure people can help you more.

The i3 2100 and h61m-ds2 have been purchased already at microcenter, $110 total price with bundle deal. (They will replace an msi neo2 platinum and athlon64 4200+).

Just need the gpu and ram. (Currently have 2 gigs ddr and an agp 4600). Figured the 6850 would be a good value and match the other components well.

I'll get 2 sticks of the 1333 ram you linked, thanks.
