Reverse mobo mod tpye thing?

Okay, I tried googling for this, but I'm not hitting the right terminology, so, does anyone have any info on mods that involve modding connectors to the back of the motherboard to aid in wire management and create a "wireless" look? My buddy seems to think that this is possible, and I want to see if it can actually be done. Thanks.
 
im confused. do you mean thee BTX mobo mod?

or turning the mobo around so the connectors are all on the inside of the case...

either way theres no way to make it wireless completely. it needs a power cable, and a monitor cable, and speakers if you want sound. mouse if you dont have a RF wireless one. same with keyboard.

so in short. there will ALWAYS be at least 2 cables coming out. power and monitor
 
I believe what was asked was more along the lines of

moving atx power header from front of board to bottom as to remove the cables from connecting via front.

That would require some serious modding of the board / powersupply and case.

But There's no reason as to why you couldn't .. Just more of a dificulty thing thats all.
 
so ur saying you want the ide/sata cables coming in from the back? i'm not completely sure what you are asking, but that would be cool non the less....a bit tiedious, and due to what i'm seeing in the "rate my cables" thread, i'm sure its not really necessary. you can take the ide cables and run it behind the mobo...as well as the power/hd light/reset switch wires.
 
To clarify: this is about attaching connectors to the solder points on the back of the mobo. So, mirroring the front on the back. And this is not something that I am considering doing, I was just looking to see if anyone had actually done it, if it was at all possible, and mostly to prove to my friend that he is on crack.

nope because the solder joints are direct connections. you wont mess with the other layers if you just play with the exact solder connections that you want

this would be kinda cool, cept i dont think i'mn too....comfortable...soldering/desoldering my mobo...it still gives me the creeps even THINKING about that...

btw, you would have to double up on the stand offs if you want to do the same thing with the IDE connections...but that a given
 
I am too not comfortable with doing this to my mobo, that is why I just got the same mobo I have for cheap on ebay, and a couple of older ones to practice on as well. Good 'ole Ebay. :)
 
Just keep in mind that if you directly solder the same connectors to the opposite side of the board, then the pins will be reversed and you will need some custom cabling to make sure everything is wired like it should be.
