Times are tough, times are [H]ard. Further to my "boxen down" post last week : confirmed - PSU took my trusty old Maximus Formula with it when it went poof. Was a bit of a hassle to swap in another S775 CPU as I had to rip apart the whole rig to remove the water block. I'm hoping my G0 Q6600 is still OK but no spare S775 mobos kicking around. Budget is so tight right now I squeak when I walk but there's a P5N-VM on craigslist here (new unused in box he says) for $40 or I can get a new GA-G41-MT S2PT for $59. I have spare DDR2 and DDR3 so no matter there, and all the rest including spare Wolfdale CPU in case the Q6600 is fried as well. Should I apply the paddles and resuscitate ? or R.I.P. and wait. Was only a spare that folded 8K ppd and the odd torrent. Was going to load up the old MF with 2 GPU's ( as a service in XP - it's still good for something ;) ) but the replacement candidates only have 1 PCI-E slot.
 
If you don't need the machine for something, I'd start looking for a 2+ pci-e slot replacement board. The Q6600 is not really worth folding on for the power it draws, but it will certainly drive 2+ video cards.
 
Yeah, I'd prefer the same thing musky, was one of reasons I was keeping the Maximus Formula. Plans were for 2 x 650/650Ti's. Q6600 no problemo feeding those, was just SMP folding while I waited to get the GPU's. Virtually nothing new avail for S775 anymore and most of the stuff on the FS/FT forums is USA only. If I can't find something soon, maybe I'll grab the G41 mobo, it'll make a decent Server for somebody ...
