Resolution + color depth problem

I just bought a Viewsonic VP201s. I'll go straight to the problem :)

I connected using the DVI cable, and I cant use 32-bit color depth in 1600x1200. Only 16-bit or lower. Other resolutions can be set to 32-bit. My videocard is not the problem, it supports it.

Strangely, windows lists resolutions up to 20x15 and they can be used in 32-bit (not with this monitor of course; max res is 16x12). Only 1600x1200 is restricted to 16-bit.

Anyone knows what the problem might be? I havent tried it in VGA by the way, but I'd rather avoid doing that, you understand. Even if it works, DVI *should* work, and the back of my comp is currently very hard to reach.

Well, it works in VGA. Seems very blurry though. Aaaah, I hope someone has an idea...
 
The only other thing I can think of is the reduce DVI frequency in high resolution setting. Try playing around in your video card's driver a bit - you may find something similar?
 
By frequency, do you mean refresh rate? If so, it's "stuck" at 60hz; there's no other option. I'm told DVI is 60hz only, for any resolution.
