Replacing Program Files HardDrive

Couldn't find a conclusive answer on this in a search.

On Windows7 64bit, I have an H-drive dedicated to large or infrequently used programs, due to the size limit of my C-drive SSD.

I would like to replace this drive.

My question is if it is as simple as copying the data over to a new drive, naming that drive H, and removing the old drive?
 
One would hope so, but I haven't tried. A safe bet would be to use imaging software, like Acronis, which comes free for WD and Seagate (IIRC) owners.
 
I hadn't tried either. I wouldn't lose anything, its just I was trying to get confirmation BEFORE making a purchase.
 
Good question. I'd say it SHOULD work, but we all know things can go. I'd say enginurd is probably right about the imaging software.
