I have an intel 3930K with the intel air heatsink and fan which has a blue LED. I want to replace that with a new heat sink and fan that has no led(I already purchased). Do I just power down my system and remove the heatsink and unplug it, wipe the top of the processor clean with a microfiber towel damp with rubbing alcohol and install the new one(thermal paste pre applied)? anything else to look out for?

That's it. You may need to remove the motherboard if the new heatsink requires a custom backplate and your case doesn't have an opening big enough on the motherboard tray to install it.
