Folks,

In December of 2012, I purchased an Asus GTX670 4Gb video card. This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121659

Now, with the latest AMD cards being out, I'd like to replace the GTX670. However, it seems like I'd have to go to mid $300's to outperform it. I'd just as soon get a GTX970 if that's the case.

Many review sites list the GTX670...but ONLY the 2Gb edition.

My question: what is an equivalent card from each manufacturer? Knowing that, I can make a decision for an upgrade.

(FWIW, it's on a HTPC, driving a 1080p screen.)

Thanks.

GTX670 = GTX760 = GTX960. They are all relatively close performance wise. I have my R9-290 overclocked to about the same speeds as a pre-overclocked R9-390, so if you don't feel like overclocking, the R9-390 would be a nice jump for you. At that point you may want to consider the GTX970, as you said. But with the 390 you get 8GB of memory and...that's about it...they seem to perform about the same, but temps and overclocking headroom seem to favor the GTX970. If you don't mind overclocking yourself and only having 4GB of RAM, you can find an R9-290x for about $300 someplaces and the R9-290 for about $250, and clock them to 390x clock speeds. I went that route and have been pretty satisfied.
