I had a computer that I reinstalled XP home on. It was installed to the \windows1 directory. What is involved in actually removing that install entirely? Just deleteing the windows1 folder? or does anything else have to be preformed.

(there is already an install at \windows)

You probably want to remove the entries related to that copy from the boot.ini. The easy way is to go to the Advanced tab of system properties and click on the "settings button" in the "Startup and Recovery" section. Set the correct option as default, and apply the change. then click the edit button and delete the line in the [operating systems] section that doesn't match the default startup option.
