I have a dell xps 400 and I was reading I can upgrade my power supply. So I decided to upgrade by psu 375 to 500. I was able to remove everything expect I couldn't continue because of two plastic holder/binding that are holding the cables(there attached to the case). I searched the internet everywhere but couldn't locate how to remove them.

Help

Take some pictures of them and maybe some of us would have a solution.

Ok well I figure out how to remove the clip. Pull foward and up. Now I have a different question. I read on the internet that my dell xps 400 power supply could be upgraded.
Right before I was about to install the ps. I notice that the box side of the ps Dell vs the antec is half an inch taller. The screw are in the same distance as the dell. The back and the top are the same size.

It opens from the right so its a btx box. I was told from frys that mostly desktops ps are standard. Your thoughts please! Thanx

most the PCs from Dell and HP have Square PSUs (same lenth and width, and height) most "standard" PSUs are Rectangular ( Longer than wide and height).

i learned that when one of our "clone" PCs at work fried its PSU and i tried to install a HP one we had around. it didn't fit the case because it was to "tall". imagine that instead of having a gap like you have, i needed little extra space so it would fit. then i had the same experience with a Dell Machine.

so its not that you new Corsair 620HX is shorter than normal, its that your Dells was Taller that the normal.

Hope that Help :)
