Do you think a refurbished X34 is a good deal for $899.00 from the Acer Factory Recertified online store?

Was thinking of getting one.

Its a great display, fills alot of the check boxes. I had one for a while, just sold it cause I am a displaywhore that jumps from bed to bed :)

I'm looking for one right now. How long is the warranty with them?

Looks like the monitor has hit ~$700 a few times. I'm waiting for that price before I snag one.

I've been looking at the X34 and usually I'd pass on a referb but at that big a price difference I am tempted. The problem is, this is a product that has had issues in the past but people are reporting improvements that have minimized some of those negative issues like reduced backlight bleed on newer batches. Seems like I would be wanted the newer better sample then a referbed older one. Now if the referb corrects the previous problems I'm in. But how will I know?

Just whether or not $400-500 is worth rolling the dice.

For me it is. Once it hits sub $700 again im in.

I do not think it is going to hit sub 700 again.

I take delivery tomorrow. Paid 899 for it. If I don't like it I will send it back. I have 14 days from the day I receive it.

Very nice. Where did you get it from? Its $999 at Acer's store now.

I have a 40" 4k that's just too big for me. So i'm not in a real rush to purchase.

Acer recertified store.

On Sunday evening of last weekend. It took 3 business days to process and I take deliver tomorrow according to FedEx.

I guess I got a good deal seeing that they are $999 now and I paid $899 the other day.

Maube they are selling fast and they have quite a few so they bumped the price a little to make profit.

Maybe.

Looking forward to a mini review once oyu get it in. Would like to know the recertified quality.

I was watching a demo of how different games look at 21:9 and I realized that games that have a HUD type UI might be a problem. Specifically I was looking at the World of Tanks demo and saw that my eye is going to have to travel a long ways to move from say the cross hair / gun sight center of map area to say the far right bottom corner to check the minimap or the top left corner to see how many of my teammates are dead. Now if I can move the minimap in closer like you would a window, then I can compensate, but many UIs wont allow the user to customize the display elements so easily, or at all.

I can see where the field of view is great and the immersion factor should be great but the mechanics of control in some game times could be iffy. I am tempted to abandon the 21:9 format for this reason.

It just makes me wonder if I really want to change to this format. I can buy excellent 16:9 monitors for far far less.

I will just force a different res in games like that. I do not mind the black bars on the right and left if it means I can play the game comfortably.

I think its more of a screen size thing.

If you dont go 21:9 and you want more screen real estate, then you have to go larger screen or dual or triple monitors. Dual or triple monitors have borders. Larger monitors have too much vertical space imo. So a large high res 21:9 screen really hitsthe sweet spot.

Oh my god I got the predator setup.... what the F was I doing all this time NOT having this monitor.

The pixel pitch is incredible. This thing is better than any retina display I have seen. The colors are pretty good too, not as good as my Asus P-IPS sitting on the floor next to me but very good indeed.

The wide screen is really immersive but the best part is the G-Sync makes my games absolutely liquid. So smooth and I feel like 90fps is 250 fps because of the lack of tearing etc... absolutely beautiful monitor.

And gaming at a 4k (I know its not 4k in dimension by any means) but 4k like is amazing too!

But serious question: Is it safe to overclock the LCD to 100hz 24/7 or am I going to wear something out?

Oh you had to. I was just rethinking what I wanted but as I go through all the other monitors I keep coming back to the X34.

Ahhhhhhh. Why do I have to be stuck on a $1,200 monitor.

I got mine refurbished and its in absolutely perfect condition. Not a single pixel defect anywhere. The speakers work just fine and are loud, although certainly not hi fidelity. The USB 3.0 hub works great, although in a really bad location, the menu system is not terrible once you get used to its ambiguous layout. And when looking directly center the curved aspect tends to flatten out nicely. I implemented some of the blue light reduction and my eye strain has drastically reduced. I get less viewing fatigue on this LCD than I did on my old Asus P-IPS 16:10 panel.
