I once had red dots on a monitor show up. I read now that most people blame the video card for overheating. Back then, i was told bad seating on a DVI cable. I remember futzing with it a lot and it worked to fix that for 5 years. I am getting that issue now again.
I dont know if it is the AMD 5770, or the 7 year old high end Planar PX2611W 26" ips monitor that is doing it. I am having a hard time turning the monitor on. I posted that in display part of the forums. No one has replied, it is such a strange problem if you read about it. Red dot artifacts on a girl's pristine g-stringed ass (friend of mine) were showing today on her web photo. I havent seen those occur in a long time. I have a 24 gauge Monoprice Dvi-d cable, 3 feet, on it. Most consider that the best cable possible, so I am guessing that isnt it.
could it be the connection on my monitor? is it related to starting issues on my monitor? is it he video card? I was trying to troubleshoot the monitor problem of it failing to turn on without turning off the monitor for hours plus the system for a while, then booting all back up. I am at a loss for explanations. I could have a bad wire and a failing monitor and a bad video card. I have arctic cooling on my video card which keeps it 10-15 C colder than stock (so people shouldnt say it is overheating, it is a low wattage card as it is).
I have no idea what to do. This red dot thing (it is NOT artifact, it is uniform on areas of red or would be some sort of shading, like breaks in color fields) is bizarre and now a 2nd problem. My monitor was a good, 800+ dollar monitor 7 years ago. shrug?
