i have an external hard drive with "cyclic redundancy check" errors.

im trying to move music from this drive onto another but keep getting this error.

does anyone know any good programs that can move this data to another drive/fix the hard drive/anything?

thanks.

There's a good chance that because of the CRC errors you're out of luck, but...

Recuva, by the makers of CrapCleaner, is free and might be able to recover some of the data, maybe all of it if you're lucky. As I said, it's free, and it works quite well in testing for me that I've done recently.

It's worth looking into, certainly.

More expensive software can do more, obviously, but for a free solution (at least while it's still in beta, who knows what they might charge for it if they ever do), go get it and see what it can do for you.

Next step would be some apps like R-Studio or EasyRecovery.

Hope this helps...
