I recently lost my Abit-NF7-S 2.0 and have built a e6600 c2d rig. My problem is, I had a raid-0 setup on the old motherboard and I cant seem to get it back without losing data on this new motherboard.

I've now got a Giga-Byte DS3R and Im running a 2x250gb Raid-0 setup here.

My other two drives are Maxtor 160gb. Hooked up, they are detected by bios raid creation program, and in windows the motherboard application will let me create an array with them. Just in both situations, when i get to the last step.. Im warned that all data will be erased when the array is created... Is there a way I can set the array back up and it be just like it was? Im only needing to recover data as my new drives are setup and good-2-go.... I just dont want to lose all my old data

thanks,
hst

Ok I found this program made my the people who have GetDataBack, apparently im creating a single disk image on my 500gig raid 0 setup using Raid Reconstructor, then I have to use GetDataBack...

No idea whats going to happen but its gonna be a while <>

any opinions or experience with either of these programs?

<ugh> i got a headache <ugh>

why not just search ebay or the forums and buy another one of those abit boards?

You best chance for saving the data is to use another one where it should see the old raid. Really anything with the same raid controller the abit board used may work.

ahh ok, I wasnt aware of that.

Thats a good call. The other comp actually went out in a lightning storm so I havent been able to tell what was damaged so far. The PSU, Ram, and Vidcard all have been tested and are working. Havent been able to test the cpu yet.

Is it possible for lightning to travel through my LAN? Anyone heard of this happening? Because my cable modem is dead, as well as 2 ports on my Linksys router... PSU and Surge Protector were still good. I trashed the surge though and bought a new one just to be safe.

Anyways, if cpu is still good I could just replace the mobo with the same and end up with my old rig back :D :D :D :D

O yea a power surge can go through a ethernet cable. Will run through pretty much anything conductive.

Yes if the cpu is fine you can pretty much bring the old config back with a replacement board but untill you really do some burn in tests and everything you will not know if any damage has been done to the other components.

Awesome! Youve been a major help in pushing me the right direction.. My nerves were shot thinking i was losing 300gigs <2 years worth> of data. I had a few backups of some but I would lose some major video projects I was working on for the family.

much appreciated,
hst

Ive got a post over in the market looking for an Abit NF7-S v.2 mobo

And when you get the new one all setup..PLEASE don't store important data on a RAID 0 setup...:)
