Recording!

Hey guys. I'm looking at recording audio with condenser mic and mixer. What would be the best sounding way to get this into my computer. I was going to go RCA to 3.5mm but many people have told me that using the input on my sound card (xfi) would really downgrade the quality and not sound good. That typical PC soundcards are good for playback (obviously) but not recording.
