Hi all,
I know there are a fair few of these sorts of topics but I've had a quick look around and I can't find a monitor that suits my requirements for the new rig I'm planning on building in the new year (Vista/Quad-core/dual R600, also used for XBox 360 and Wii). Since you lot are an authority on which displays are worth having, I was hoping you might be able to suggest a panel or two? I've looked at the Benq 241w but it doesn't have 1:1 mapping and the horizontal resolution is a little low (but only a little)
Requirements are:
16:9 physical size and aspect ratio OR different ratio but with 1:1 pixel mapping, i.e. black bars at the edges (so no stretched images)
Minimum screen height around 12'' (height of my existing VP2030b - I don't want the new one to be much shorter, preferably not at all)
At 16:9 this gives a minimum diagonal of around 24'' (at least 25'' would be preferable)
Minimum resolution around 2133x1200 (for the same or better pixel-to-size ratio as the VP2030b)
480p+720p+1080i+1080p support (for the 360 and future devices, I hope to keep this display for a while providing no more new standards come out)
HDCP support (over either HDMI or DVI, for when they start enabling the HDCP bit on Blu-ray and HD-DVD)
270° pivot capability (strictly speaking it only needs to pivot 90°, but must do this anti-clockwise, not clockwise as most of the 90° pivot models I've seen do. You can't play Ikaruga pivoted clockwise
)
Cost is not much of an issue (up to £2-3k) if the panel fulfils the above requirements, also bear in mind I'm in the UK. Would also prefer a P-MVA panel, very happy with my Viewsonic VP2030b except for not having widescreen or HD support.
Hping someone can find one, or just tell me the closest one there is if none exists, think the 241w may be the closest? Thanks!
