I finally upgraded my WHS system from an AMD X2 3800+ to an AMD Phenom 7750 quadcore, but I'm concerned with the temps. I used a Phenom II cooler and under full load the temps are around 50-52C with an idle temp around 38C. This is on a ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard in a Aerocool Masstige case. I was thinking about getting a Arctic Cooler Freezer 64 Pro but I just wanted to see if there is something better I should be looking at around the same price. I don't really want to spend more than $40 on a cooler but would like to overclock the processor at least a little to get a little more oomph for encoding my recordings to h.264 when archiving.

Any advice.

You'll have to check for clearance as some of these coolers are very tall or wide. All of these are very good coolers in this price range and have comparable cooling capacity.
 
The question is, are they better than the Freezer 64 Pro? The one thing I really like about the Freezer is it doesn't require pulling the motherboard out to install a mounting bracket. Not that I couldn't do that, but it is an extended period of time for the system to be down, and considering I only get to work on the server after everyone goes to sleep (11:00 PM or later), I would prefer to keep the time spent to a minimum before I have to get up for work at 6:00 AM (or 7:00 AM on the weekends when my daughter wakes up :( ).
 
Yes they are all better, and three of those five don't require motherboard removal. The increased airflow from 120mm fan + the more heatpipes of these coolers should drop your load temps at least 5-8C and possibly more.
 
Yes, they are better than the Freezer 64 Pro, my choice would be the S1283, however the Scythe Mugen-2 is a good cooler, though with a single fan may not cool as good, it does have a few points over the S1283 such as a bolt through system, though you sound like you rather the pushpins of the S1283, so that might be a point for the S1283. It also allows for the "proper" orientation on AMD motherboards. And has a better fan (a PWM Slipstream).
 
Hmm, I was thinking about the S1283 or the Vendetta 2. I'll have to take some measurements of my case to make sure one will fit. My only other concern is the motherboard orientation. Considering it is a tower case, I'm not sure if the AMD "heatsink clip" standard will be sturdy enough to hold a big heatsink secure at a 90 degree angle. It is a full tower and functions as a server, so it isn't like it moves around a lot (only when replacing/adding hardware).
