i have a p4 2.4b on a abit is7 mobo with a radeon aiw 9700...i know the potential of the cpu is 3.0 ghz+ but i cant achieve this with my cheap 350 generic psu that came with the tower. I'm running it on 2.8 ghz stable on stock voltage right now.

now what i want to know is if i upgrade my psu, will i be able to get more o/c out of this chip or is something else the limiting factor?. my ram is corsair xms 3200.

and if the psu is the problem what kind should i upgrade to that will let me reach 3.0 or higher?. And i'm trying to keep the budget as low as i can but just recommend anythign thats good and not overkill for me

Antec True Power.

You're running a 2.4b chip at 2.8. That's a good overclock there. Your chip probably has reached its limit. You'll have better overclocking with a C chip on that 865 board.

antec truecontrol 550

if you're short on money: fortron sparkle

if you have tons of $$: pc power & cooling

thanks a lot but i was looking at the 430 truepower also just wondering if there was anything a lil cheaper.

anymore suggestions?.

thanks for your replies i think i'll just dish out the extra 10 bucks and go with the 430 true

i have a vantec stealth 520 and i like it. it's quiet and quite powerful. i think it's an under-rated PSU ;)

Good choice with the True 430. I run one in mine, $70 was kind of expensive, but it's an excellent PSU, delivers clean power to my parts.
