If you have an VOTE FOR KEENAN!
I have an OEM Sony VAIO PCV-RX850 (2.4Ghz P4, 1.12GB PC-2700 Kingston Value and Crucial sticks, Abit GF Ti4200). Whats a good card upgrade for this computer?
Yes it has an AGP 4x slot and I put an Abit GF Ti4200 in there. Is a 6800GT appropriate for this computer? It seems a little too powerful for such a weak base VAIO.
6800GT/Ultra is the best you will ever get (ok, maybe not ever). Dont worry about AGP 4X, it is plenty fast for anything the 6800 can dish out. If you worry about general system performance (CPU, RAM) you may have a point, but you could upgrade those later on.
If you dont want to spend the money on a 6800GT, do some research and go for a 6600GT or an X800XL, your choice.
