Recognizing a disk as bootable?

I've installed a 120gb hdd on a dell deminsion, and the bios doesn't recognize it as bootable.

In the BIOS it says "unknown device" and an unknown capacity. In the windows interface, it recognizes it as 111gb, which it is.

Would that be a bios error, or something to do with my drive?

What kind of drive is it, SATA or PATA? What Dimension model is it? More information please
