I was thinking about getting Widescreen RPTV this summer since they seem to drop in price so fast. My budget is pretty low as well. At most I think I would pay 2300 Canadian. What should I look for in these TVs? What companies should I avoid? is it true that if you use your Xbox on one it voids warrenty? Anything else would be great.

I am looking for one as well. I have never heard that using video games voids warrenty. It may cause burn-in but thats only if you use it a whole lot. Good brands for RPTV are Mitsubishi, Hitachi, and Toshiba. Each brand has its ups and downs. It just matters which one you like. Sony is nice but they cost more and they have had quality issues the past few years. Just look up info on the web.
