so last night my right hand and my main monitor met each other and I need to buy a monitor.

I don't need anything fancy for photo editing, just need something that will be good for FPS gaming via PC and xbox 360, so will be using DVI and HDMI inputs. Looking for around a 24 inch screen. Want to buy today, i have a best buy and a micro center within 5 miles.

Any guidence would be a big help.

The only Monitor I've personally had from all of the above was the Samsung P2770HD. Lived with it for one month. Rather not criticize the others based on someone else's opinion.

As a TV Monitor it was very versatile, one of the best of the 27 inch screens. It had all the connections I wanted (component, VGA, HDMI, direct TV input, speakers).

If you like the 1920X1080 screen and size its a great monitor. I found no problem for the casual gamer like myself. It only tilts and does not swivel or raise and lower.

The colors are good (remember its a TN panel) and there are preset adjustments. Its one of the better TV monitors I've had. The other worth mentioning was the Benq 2700HD.

I've viewed the HP 2509 in my local store. It looks quite nice and appears reasonably priced. Its 25 inches so its a good size for gaming and well regarded by all reviews. On price alone I would go with this monitor. If your store has a good return policy, if you don't like then return.

Basically I found all the TN panel monitors, I tested with intent to purchase, very similar in construction and colors. Maybe some were slightly better than others but, really, not by very much.

I would go with the price, inputs and ease of adjustments.

Yeah I don't think wives and kids come with warranty. You could always go back and buy new ones :p

How you liking your new monitor?
