JetBlue has teamed up with Google to offer real-time flight tracking via Google Maps. Customers can check flight progress from seat-back screens while friends and family can log on to JetBlue’s website for the same information.

Low-cost American airline JetBlue announced yesterday they have struck a deal with search giant Google to provide the familiar Google Maps software on the seat-back screens to map the flight's route in real-time. Family and friends will also be able to pull up JetBlue.com and track any flight via the same Google Maps interface.

I think it's pretty slick, but I'm sure some people are going to cry security risk.
How long before google tracks individual people? I wouldn't mind knowing where my friends are at all times. :p

Now they just need to map actual flight path data with the street map images and you can see the country in a matter of minutes! :D Super fast driving experience FTW.

darn, I misread that to say "real-time fight tracking via google maps"

I thought they had added some new feature where you could report where a fight broke out and have it popup on a map along with any live video that anyone was taking of it and also get a overhead view by a satellite. Or something like that.

I guess flight tracking is ok also if you want to see where your friends plan is, or if you are in the plane and want to see what area you are over.

what is wrong, there wasn't a single joe in the story about how late the plane will be or anyhting, someone is really slacking, either that or its just gotten to the point its no longer funny.

There is a picture on the Drudge Report today, seem the GOOGLE MAPS team took a picture of an address in San Fransico and the woman who lives in the house was getting into her pickup truck and as she was bending to get into the truck her pants ran down passed her ass showing off her black thong...

I sent the link to Steve earilier today.

I swear, Google is going to take over the world with Googlebots.

My parents told me about something like this during their trip to Italy a couple weeks ago, though it wasn't JetBlue, but I think a foreign airliner. It sounds pretty neat, and maybe helpful for people with a fear of flying. On the other hand, I don't think I'm comfortable with people on the ground watching the path of the plane I'm on.

Boring... Mac OS X has a Widget that's been able to do this for over two years... Oh, wait, it's news because a Windows user can do it now...

Saw that yesterday on the daily show.
