I have 2x1TB WD Greens in my old readynas duo and would like to move the data to my new HDs on another system. THe problem is the transfer rate is TERRIBLE.

Is there anyway to create the RAID1 array with the same 2 disks on my ARECA card and copy from that?

I`m lucky it's less than 1TB of data but it still is VERY VERY slow

The WD Greens are not suitable for SW/HW RAID and it's not fixable...
You're better off getting new Toshiba HDDs (ACA series) that actually work decent in RAID.

What? You need to re-read what I wrote. I`m trying to get data OFF my shit WD Greens to my NEW drives. I`m well aware they are shit, and are not suitable for hardware raid. For software they have worked just fine for the last couple years... just REALLY REALLY SLOW.

The problem is the duo just has garbage performance.

Try some of the stuff in this guide, still garbage but might save a few hours: http://www.readynas.com/?p=177#Performance

Thanks, I`ll check that out.

I read this part "Is there anyway to create the RAID1 array with the same 2 disks on my ARECA card and copy from that?" and assumed that you meant the green drives. Just a warning that they most likely wont play nice.

You can probably just stick one in a computer and use one of the drives as a regular drive instead of raid 1
