The components are:
DD maze 4
pondmaster 250 gph
''77 bonneville core
2x 120 panaflow m1a
nalgene 1/2" ID tubing
zerex pump lubricant and rust preventor(not the zerex coolant)
really big PVC resevoir which makes it super simple to fill and bleed

Temps are 35C idle and 38-40 load on a p4 2.53 northwood @ 3.1

So after taking about 2 weeks to put everything together I get it up and running...then my stupid 80 gig WD SE drive dies(my master drive). So now im stuck using my old laptop and cant play with my new toy.

However, I just got a new scope for my new .50 cal muzzle loader meaning that when I sight it in next weekend that the hard drive is going to meet its end. DONT WORRY I will record the event with my digicam and post it up for all to see :):)

Yeah, it is big isn't it? I like BIG. You should exchange it for one of these and get the extra cooling out of it....

Where can i get one of those?
.. in 1/2 barbs :D

The passive oil cooler on my VW (added to my active cooler):
FK%20Oil%20Filter%20Cooler%20Alum%20180w.jpg

Oil temps driving across BC before the cooler: 130-140C
Oil temps driving back home after the cooler (with a heavier load to boot): 105C (110C max)
Worked waaaay beyond my expectations.

So yeah, those finned coolers help. Temperature differential is a "bit less" for PCs than with engines, but that dT is still there. ;) Anybody thought of retapping a Reserator for 1/2"?

that is pretty sweet. I would go for one of those but since its made by VW im sure the price is astranomical. local VW dealer said wiper blades for my moms 01 passat are like 60 bucks or some crazy number like that...retaping that oil cooler wouldnt be a prob.

i made the resevoir that big so that when I fill it the the water will push it self thru my loop since my water block and radiator are below the highest point of the res. This means it is basically bleed before I even fire up the pump. i will get around to painting it eventually.

I still need to clean up the relay wiring and stuff and get it mounted up off the bottom of the case just in case i have a leak. dont want a live 120V AC wire laying around near water. :)

You can find that thing here . I would just be carefull because it is Al and would react with copper blocks. Use a bit of antifreze to stop the galvanic reaction. Oh, it's not a VW part either. It's an aftermarket transmission cooler for hot rods. It would need some modding (sealed at both ends, no removeable end caps), but would be easy to do... just drill and tap a hole in the end without any and put the end with two holes in it up and you have a res with a fill cap right next to the inlet.

That was a good idea. Use gravity and the weight of the water to feed the loop for bleeding.

What is the ID on that thing? It would make a nice accessory to a 2" or larger copper pipe res.

It slides onto my oil filter, which is closer to 4" diameter. Sorry mate.

Damn, And I was hoping I was the only one to have that idea. Also, without the fins you can get a hot rod overflow tank. They are a little smaller and have a cap already on one end!
