Hey, I bought the latest ratpadz when it came out, maybe like a year ago? now I need a new one because it's worn out and has areas that are practically smooth which reflects the mouse optics too much. But when I'm checking the pricing i find it almost TWICE as expensive as it used to be.. damn.. hey, i understand increasing the cost a few dollars, but from $10 to now $17/$20.. of course I can afford it, but I was just curious why it would increase in price so much
 
I don't understand how people wear out their ratpad. I've had mine about as long as you and it's still like new.

i dunno either man...i had my original ratpad for 3-4 years before i needed to replace it, i didn't get a GS though...i probally should have... :( oh well, live and learn.
 
I think the reason it is worn out it because the feet on my mouse are also worn down, and so at least some of the hard plastic on the bottom of the mouse must have rubbed onto the ratpad surface during gaming.. I'm sure if you always have a perfect situation where your mouse feet are in good shape or you buy those teflon pads, your radpad will last much longer.
 
i was about to mention that, the feet on my mouse that i have came with really smooth feet, they are clear looking. the ones that are on intellimouse (like the one I am using now at work) are crappy black feet that don't glide very well, and I could see that it's edges are alot rougher and less round than the ones on my a4tech mouse at home.

teflon tape would be really nice for your mouse, an inexpensive adjustment.
 
I had a ORIGNAL Ratpadz that dident wear out at all, upgraded to the GS, it was worn in about 4 months, same usage, same mouse. i had the orignal about a year. Got a func now, going on 7 months without wear :)
 
Yeah, the new Ratzpads wear out really fast. Maybe you should get a func or something else.

Im still using a ball "intellimouse" with a nice 3m Precise Mousing surface. Cheap and Good. :)
 
Weird, I have a GS and like I mentioned before, it's still like brand new. Maybe I got an updated version, 1.2a or something
 
Mine wore out in a few months. Turned it around, and used the other side. Now both sides are down to a mirror finish. I then bit the bullet and bought myself an XTrac Pro HS. It's so slick.

WRONG! My first high quality pad WAS a Func.. and although it did last almost a year, the surface was so wore down and smooth I now use it for a mirror :p
 
I checked out liek 10 or more sites that carry the ratpadz before I bought mine to get a good deal don't buy from the 1st site..
 
I went through 4 Ratpadz GS. They all wore out in 2 weeks flat. I have the Ratpadz original, and it still has never worn out. The only gripe I have with it is that it is so warped it's not flat. I can't flatten it.

Solution? Simple.

Ratpadz GS (for shape) + CS Hyde Mousegear.
 
i order from SVC all the time though it hink its iinda worth it. although i can get the whole thing even with shipping for 15 bucks.
 
I got my Ratpadz GS from Newegg for like 15 bucks several months ago. Used it for about 3 weeks without teflon feet only to find my MX500 was getting shorter by the day. Now with teflon feet the pad itself is wearing badly. Not impressed with the GS at all.
 
I use a EverGlide mouse pad....
And its only 10 dollars!

No ware on it yet and i use my EverGlide pad every day
 
As I have stated before in these threads, how the heck do you wear down a GS in less than a year? I have had one since the day they shipped and have used an MS Intellimouse and a Logitech MX700 both constantly on it for 8 hours a day and it is still like new.

No teflon tape on either mouse, perhaps not applying 200PSI to the mouse is the key? I have friends that I have given them to as well and they suffer no problems with theirs either, all sorts of different mouse designs as well.

Dunno, but I stand by the GS and would say that $17 isnt a bad deal. Of course the best way to get one was to attend QC last year ;)

i've worn two ratpads smooth. one old style and one gs.
i'm using a fellowes cloth pad right now, and for $5 it's tough to beat :p
 
Similar problem with the GS. Mine's about a year old and has a worn spot in the middle where part of my hand rests on the surface (I have large hands). That could be what's wearing your's down, too. Could also be my 3 year old mouse...

I use mine heavily for gaming (cs). Is there another good, durable pad that works with logitech mice? Been considering a fUnc or icemat or something along those lines...preferably not too pricey.

I have the fUnc 1030 in black. Its very conformtable and my MS Intelli 4.0 works great on it. Its only $20 and i love it!

The RatpadzGS is good for nothing but to wear off the old feet on your mouse when your too lazy to peel them off yourself :p.
 
Thanx. Will consider fUnc. How about mousetape? (my pads are worn pretty low)
 
My question is, how do you wear down a mousepad? :confused:
The one I've had on my desk is now 5 years old! :D
