I have a A8N SLI-Deluxe and im trying to install raid 0 on 2 Western Digital 72gb raptor hard drives. I have gone through the bios and and enabled raid and enabled the 2 hard drives then i went through and created the raid 0 in the ...well i dont know what its called but i crated the raid and the data size and selected whitch hard drives i wanted to be part of the raid. I also created my raid floppy with the cd that came with my mobo...the nvidia raid software.......and when i start to install XP it lets me install the files on the floppy but it doesnt reconize the hard drives. What could be doing this....by the way the is my first time to build a raid system so if its something little im missing im sorry! :p
 
Looks like we're in the same boat. Having that exact same problem myself. Got the "new hardware" wizard after I put the drive in, but it's not recognizing it after reboot.
 
I read that you dont need the jumpers in the hdd for it to work. Is this correct? Do i need to put the jumpers back in?
 
you don't need the jumpers if your running it on sata. Also, you said something about the nvraid. Try the silicon raid image. That is what i used to make my two 74 gig raptors on that same mobo work
 
Hmm, that's funny cause the instructions in mine said NOT to mess with the jumpers if you're installing into a desktop.

Would this be the reason I haven't been able to install mine? I got thru the install part but, like KC, it doesn't appear when I reboot.
 
You said that you installed the drivers from the disk. By that I assume you pressed F6 at the beginning of the textmode setup when prompted for scsi or other storage drivers, correct? If that is the case, you might want to check that you are trying to install the correct version of the raid controller drivers, as most that I have personal experience with are written for a specific controller firmware version. Might not hurt to go to your mobo vendor's website and see if there is a new firmware you can flash onto the controller before you try the install as well.

yes that is correct.
 
maybe dont raid the 2 drives, they are already 10k, they say the preformance boost is almost unoticable with the raptor drives. to raid or not to raid raptors I read this article a while ago, and it helped me decied just to get one 74gig raptor and just use my segate 200gig as storage. They take a lot of HDs threw the tests. Give it a read and maybe you will decied also that the hassel isnt worth it

not to mention the scaryness of your windows being on my raid0 drives always scares me, even though it is pretty safe.
