I was just wondering how noisy everyones 36GB raptors were. I have 2 in raid 0 and random access are very noisy, especially the random access test in hdtach. The noise is similar to my other HD's, just louder. Kind of a scratching sound.

i looked at western digital's website and it says that they run at 32dBa idle and 36dBa in seek mode
not bad if u ask me :D

They make a lot of noise because they suck, plain and simple :p

they probably do make a lot of noise when they seek. thats generally what fast 10k drives sound like.

i remember the 340 MB drive in my 386 sounded like a fricken train going by when it was seeking.

i can't hear mine at all

Haha...whatever.

At any rate, my 10,000 rpm Hitachi 73LZX makes a racket when seeking and reading. I'm about to sound proof this bitch.
