anyone else having probs setting up RAPTORS as a primary drive( Solo)
or how about as the primary with other HDs as storage.
Having issues with MSI's k8N Neo 4 Platinum / SLi Mobo...
any suggestions???
 
What problems are you having exactly? Does it not recognize the drive at all or will it just not boot off of it?

If it's just not booting off of it, check the boot menu in the OS and make sure it's set as the first drive the system looks at.
 
i have the mobo recognizing the HD
i have installed win2k on there. I did disable theRaid feature because i want the raptor as a standalone for now.
But when it restarts . It does not boot off the harddrive. It says Disk Error please insert bootdosk then press enter. I dunno wtf...please help!
 
I had a similar error with my Samsung SP1213Cs, although this was on ICH5R. A BIOS update fixed the issue - see if there is a BIOS update for your mobo, particularly one that list SATA as one of the fixes. (The BIOS Update that solved my problem specifically listed a new SATA firmware version as one of the fixes)
 
try disabling master/slave on IDE in the bios. I think I did something like that on my A8N to get it to boot from the scsi disk

it was a simple bios fix
unfortunately MSI does not clearly state wtf is in the bios
lol..
i just tested it and it ran beautifully
seems to run alot faster than an IDE HD..
sweet!
now..
anyone recommend a Harddrive water block for the RAPTOR?
 
My HDD Fans built in my case work fine, My Raptors stay nice and cooool :D

I will second JasonX's comments. Your Raptors don't need a waterblock. With FDB motors, a fairly conservative 10,000RPM spindle speed, and only two platters, they will be fine with merely a fan blowing over them. There is absolutely no reason to watercool them. OTOH, my 6 platter Seagate Cheetah 10K drives with ceramic bearings could use water cooling :eek:

Been there and done that.
When my main system was water cooled it included 5 10K scsi drives.

Now its not I use air cooling to keep the twin raptors, one 10K scsi and one 15K scsi drives cool.

Luck....... :D
