I have the best rule! no bashing or discussion on why 1 graphics card is better then the other is allowed anywhere in any thread but a sticky thread called

NVidiots VS FanATIcs

how about this mod?

I am so sick all I am seeing in the graphics section is people being fanboys.

only one big problem with that idea, a lot of new people come to the video card forum to find out which is the best card, then the fans of each brand give their recommendations, some even provide data why "x" card is better than "x" card.

I think all of the fanboyism is fine, as long as it is kept on an adult level, no name calling, etc.

Agree with creedAMD. People are welcome to an opinion and welcome to express it, so long as they discuss it without personal attacks. And to the threadstarter, why should people not be able to compare graphics cards? After all, reviews are one of the main components on HardOCP. In addition, why would you not want to get the best card possible.

I agree with creedAMD. You need people to be giving the pros and cons of a card and I think the mods are do a pretty good job of keeping any arguments to an adult and mature level

The problem is frustraiting, but at the same time it's also trying to get taken care of. However using the terms like you posted do not help the problem, only make it worse. So start by making a change in the way you post, if each person does that it can go away without the need to Ban people.

Having a particular stance on hardware is one thing, but when it turns to being insulting, flaming or a problem to the forum is where we step in to help solve it and will continue to do so.

Fugu made a sticky about name-calling in the Video Cards forum. They'll always be idiots who will resort to name-calling and other childish behavior when they don't get their way (and, yes, I realize how hypocritical that may sound :D). However, if they have to resort to name-calling, you've basically won: you beat their argument fair and square.

I'll echo what CreedAMD said. I have no problem with brand loyalty, as long as you're willing to back up your suggestions. If you can't, just don't suggest it. Mileage varies with computer parts, folks. :)

not to mention that they will likely get caught at it
and invited to mend their ways
but not indefinately :p

its sort of like an intelligence test

More like a mouse-trap test: one bad bite of the cheese and you're screwed.

(This analogy works under the impression mice have three lives, which is most of the time two more than they deserve ;))
