Hey I just got finished with a neat little mod i thought up a few hours ago, and wanted to share it. Basically, I got an Antec Super Lanboy case for Christmas, and made the transfer from an old EOL case. And i was looking at ways to mod it without cutting it up and drilling holes and so on. Basically, what I came up with is something that I think will draw people's eyes in a surprised sort of way.

I start out with this. This is how it will look during normal daylight or ceiling light hours.

But when at a LAN party or when i have my black light on in my room, I'll open the case door and....

UltraViolet-reactive spraypaint. It goes on clear, and glows purple (though it looks blue here) under UV light (which is usually abundant at LAN parties). I have several other creative uses for this stuff, but this is the first that I undertook, so ... comments?
 
I usually don't care for lights in a case, but something about that glow is appealing to me. Can't wait to see more. Good job. :)
 
Where the hell do you hook up the front audio to the mobo? I couldn't figure it out...
 
lol slightly off topic, but okay - theres a connector that has 10 pins, 1 of which is not present, on your motherboard, if you have this feature. It's 2 rows. In some cases, your onboard audio has 2 jumpers on this connector. Anyways, on my motherboard this connector is labeled something like FP_AUDIO. I have it plugged in this way because i have the Zalman Theatre 5.1 headphones plugged into my back audio connectors (3 plugs, 6 channels), and so when i want to hear my regular desktop speakers, i just plug them into the front. This disables the headphone front channels, but enables them for the front panel. Quite nifty if you ask me.

I better ask this, because I have been wondering this for awhile. Where did you get the paint?

It looks like they don't carry the spraypaint anymore, but oddly enough they still have a picture of the exact can that I got if you click on UV Reactive Products and go to page 2. I think I'm gonna have to find where I can get more spraypaint though - its good stuff, especially because it comes off with soapy water, or what i used seamed very effective too - rubbing alcohol.
 
That stuff would be nice for accents around the case. Or you could paint something on the window... It wouldn't be visible under normal light, but once there was UV light on it, it would glow. Kinda like a disappearing applique or etch. That would be snazzy!
 
I'm definitely thinking about it. And the best part is that i could easily remove it with rubbing alcohol... so suppose this time around it gets a HL2 logo, and when the next game i like comes out i could change it.... Only thing i am worried about is finding a good stencil, as i'm no great artist.
 
Find a pic you like, print it out so it fills a whole page, then cut out the logo with and exacto knife. Presto, cut out pattern! Or ya know, whatever you want to do, go for it... :D
