Only at overclocked speeds, my computer randomly at times restarts itself. When Im playing games, or browsing the internet... it happens just about any time. I suspect the power supply but the numbers seem pretty good on mine

Also only on OC speeds, my games also randomly crap out me and some error relating to DX9 pops up. My 6800GT has been OC'd automatically by coolbits to 424/1140 and fitted with a Zalman vf-700 so temperatures are very stable. Once again, it doesnt occur if I set it to stock.

Everyone here talks about Enermax, Forten, OCZ, etc... Could it be my Rosewill PS that the cause of my problems?
 
CHeck and log you Vcore (make sure its not fluctuating too much) and your rails.

Make sure its not dipping too low IMO below 3.18V for the 3.3, 4.85 for the 5.0, and 11.80 for the 12v is too low.

Get memtest and check your memory, Sounds like memory curroption = insta reboot.

and use prime95 to make sure your cpu overclock is stable.

I do get 11.78 on the 12V and 4.87 on the 5V. I used SM 1.5.1 instead of memtest and it came out clean. Memory is actually underclocked to 180mhz instead of 200mhz which it is rated for so I dont think memtest will show errors anyways unless my sticks are truely faulty. Prime 95 can go stable for at least 8 hours showing no errors. Though if I try for that long period again, the system will probably reboot.

11.78 might be the problem I see... thanks for the tip
 
Not trying to jack the thread or anything, but my roommates computer keeps on randomly restarting exactly the same, and I've tested it with everything I know of, no dice, even tried replacing evrything but the mobo and CPU. But checking with MBM5, his +12V line is running at 11.69. Do you think this could be causing his random reboots? Thanks!
 
usually, i can trace random reboots to crappy power...did you say rosewill? WTF were you thinking when you bought that thing? cash strapped or not...my god man...49 bucks for a 500w power supply? try again! anything of quality in that power range usually starts at about 90-110 & up from there! What is your processor/mobo combo? the 6800GT isn't exactly a power conservative card in it's own right...i think you'z drawin too much for your PS to handle. i tried running my dually off a powmax 500w power supply thinkin "oh yeah 500 will be enough, it's rated for such and such on each rail...i'm good..." .... well it only took 7 days for it to melt into a pile of goo taking the motherboard and both hard drives with it! do yourself a favor and get rid of that ticking time bomb before it destroys your system entirely!

Running a Soltek k8t800pro with a newcastle 3500+ and a WC setup.I decided to fore-go a better PSU to a separate VGA cooler. I guess its time to get that OCZ modstream I've been looking at
 
I'd recommend the OCZ PowerStream over the ModStream since you actually can adjust the rails on the PowerStream....not sure why they call the Mod the Mod anyway :p 520Watts is more than enough power, and my rails are stubborn...once they're set they do not move....I love it. Glad I tossed the other PSU out the window (not literally....should tho) that I had purchased first for this.
