Random PC Freeze / Shutdown

My PC just randomly freezes up when I'm playing and I'm assuming it's my PSU. I run dual screen so I have video playing on the second one and the sound will just repeat for a few seconds then both monitors go off and say no input available, but all the lights are still on in the PC.

My current PSU is an Antec TruePower II 550w, which I believe has been known to have issues in the past but up until now, it's worked out fine for me, assuming it's the actual problem. I'm not getting BSOD or anything like that which is why I'm thinking it's PSU. Also, I'm almost 100% sure it's not overheating on either my CPU or my GPU because neither run hot enough to be an issue. Random freezes IS indeed a sign of a failing PSU though, right?

If this is the problem, hello HX520.

Yeah could possibly be the PSU but there a lot of other things it could also be unfortunately.

Oh yes there is also one more thing I forgot to add that is actually pretty important about why I thought it was the PSU. After it happens, the only way I can get the PC to boot up again is to switch off the PSU from the back, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Then the PC boots up fine. But that problem is what first made me think it was actually the PSU and not something else.

Could someone give me more input? I would like to get this fixed before I go back to school because I can't get mail from newegg in the dorms.

Those TP's are known to have Fuhjyyu caps that emit magic fluid. It could cause undesired ripple, out of spec voltages, and high pitch whines. Read more.....

1) Are you o/c'ing? If so set back to defaults.
2) Can you complete 2 passes of memtest86+ and 6 hours of Prime95 without an error or lockup?

Set up a free email account from Google, Yahoo, etc. to solve that problem. In any event contact Antec to see if you can RMA the psu (if it it <3 yrs. old). You'd most likely receive an EarthWatts 500 or 650 in return. They may even offer an advanced RMA. :D

No, I can get email...

I can't actually get a physical package at my university because newegg won't ship to them. And I'm not overclocking, and I ran memtest and p95 when I first built this pc and everything was fine. But I'll do it again just to see when I have time.
