In order to achieve a 3.2 overclock, I had to loosen my default timings from 2-3-3-7 to 3-4-4-8. Would increasing the RAM voltage allow me to run timings at default, or even lower? What is considered to be a safe volatage range? You can see the system in my signature.
 
I see a lot of people runnnig their ram in the 3v range. I've seen people with BH-5 run 3.2 or 3.3v to their ram.

check your corsair specs on their website. It should tell you "their" safe range.

Increasing voltage to your ram should let you run at a higher clock with the same timings or less. make it more stable (just like upping the voltage to your cpu if it becomes unstable during overclock)
 
I see you have an Aeroflow. I got one laying around. Does it cool really well as well as silently? The Spark I have installed sounds like a jet engine.
 
It does cool really well for the price (cheaper now than what I paid too). However, I wouldn't necesarily call it quiet. The tmd fan generates a LOT of vibration due to the increased torque. I've used gel to absorb a good amount of vibration, but it's still noticeable when the fan it running 3/4 - full speed. but as it is, I only notice about 3c difference between half speed an full speed...so at half speed it's fairly quiet and still cools well. with the gel gasket and half speed, the loudest thing in my case is the 120mm antec fan for exhaust.

I also lapped it, so that helped a little too.


edit: I hear the aeroflow 2 cools every bit as well, and is a lot quieter...for about the same price. It's also supposed to be more reliable because it doesn't use a tmd fan as they were known to die early seaths...which I guess I'm lucky since mine's still spinning
 
if you have v1.1 ram, you can go up tp 3.5v day to day as long as you have good case cooling. I run 3.45v day to day through my mushkin bh5
 
My RAM's default in the BIOS was 1.6, so I bumped it up to 1.7 - smooth! Works great, I was able to go under default latencies even while overclocked.
