RAM & file transfer question

Specs:
P4 2.4C @ 3.1
512 x 2 geil pc3500
Asus P4P800 deluxe
Radeon 9500

First the RAM question.
The Ram is at 2.85Volts

I got 2 512 sticks of Geil Ultra platinum and was wondering, if each stick can overclock a certain amount by itself, doesn't that mean that it should be able to overclock in dual-channel mode to at least the lowest of the 2 sticks?

If I can get the RAM to 216mhz in dual channel mode 1:1, doesn't that mean that I should be able to get roughly 270 : 216 (5:4)? For some reason I can only get 260, at 261 it won't boot.

Finally, the second question deals with file transferring using the lpt1 port using direct connect communication built into Windows. Is it suppose to bog down the system a whole lot? While transferring files from my laptop to my main computer using this method, i can't watch dvds or divx movies because they stutter so much. Is it suppose to do this or am I setting it up wrong?

Thanks

Yes, it will be sluggish during large file transfers.

That is a problem in WindowsXP. They no longer map the IRQ correctly for the parallel port thus it puts all of the work on the CPU, making your supercomputer run like the original IBM PC.
