I spoke with ASUS USA and asked some questions regarding setting up my current build but I am kind of confused. I am building a new computer for photo and video editing and am using the following parts.

ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME/ASSEMBLY LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Motherboard

SAMSUNG 850 EVO M.2 500GB SSD SATA III Internal Solid State Drive MZN5E500BW

4 WD Blue 1TB Internal SSD Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch WDS100T1B0A

Windows 10 Pro 64bit

They told me that I could boot from the M2 drive and have the RAID 10 and told me that I would have to create a RAID floppy disk but according to the manual it says that you have to create the disk if you are installing the O/S on the RAID which I don't intend on doing I am going to use the RAID strictly for storage. Would someone please enlighten me!

Cheers

you don't need a raid floppy unless you are installing the os to that.

you're not so you don't need it.

install the os to the m.2 ssd and then add the raid array afterwards.

leave the drives unplugged until you are done installing windows.

also you don't even have a floppy header on your board... i dont even....

The way I did it was to install windows and finish the boot drive m.2. Then connect up all my RAID drives and boot into windows and set them up individually and go into Intel Rapid Storage Tech control panel and create the RAID array from there.

EDIT: What he said :-D
