RAID 0 Formatting

I've heard numerous people claim that a complete format only takes a few seconds on their RAID 0 array. I have a 2x Maxtor 160GB RAID 0 on an IC7-G. When I do a full format it takes a long time, like 45 minutes. My friend has the exact same setup and his formats in a couple of seconds.

The only difference is that my stripe size is 128 and his is 16. I havent bothered to redo my array because I dont notice any difference during operation. We are doing the full formats during the XP install.

Anyone experience anything similiar?

Thanks.

A few seconds is absurd, unless it's a quick format. I've been working with RAID arrays for years. However, 45 minutes seems way too long for that setup. I had 2 WD1200JBs in RAID0 with 128k striping, and they took about 10 minutes to format completely.
